A new product has been announced which allows parents to limit the amount of time their kids spend playing games.
Digital Innovations’ GameDr is a timer which fastens onto the power cord of any console and will turn it off after a specified amount of time. The device is described as “tamper proof” and will alert the user both ten minutes and one minute before the device switches off the console.
“Our timer device enables parents to establish responsible guidelines that are flexible so parents can modify them as situations change,” said Digital Innovations’ Gary Masching.
“This also helps children learn to become more responsible for their behavior. Both parents and their children win because GameDr® Video Game Timer eliminates stress and removes the cause of duress that often jeopardizes a peaceful home environment.”
The company claims it conducted research which showed that 50% of parents were concerned about the amount of time their kids spend playing games. 62% said they would consider using some kind of timer device.
