BlizzCon Tickets Sold Out In 15 Seconds

Blizzard Entertainment's annual convention for fans, BlizzCon, sold out the first batch of tickets in under 15 seconds.

The BlizzCon 2009 tickets were announced to be sold in two batches, one on 16 May and one on 30 May. Interest among the fans of Blizzard's three franchises, World of WarCraft, StarCraft II and Diablo III, has been huge.

The three halls of the convention centre held 20.000 fans and press last year and has been increased with a fourth hall for this year's event and is expected to hold over 27.000 visitors.

With last year's ticket sales debacle Blizzard updated its purchase site to cater for a new "queue system". This year's (first batch) sales went smooth and lightning fast.

A staff member of IncGamers tried the new system and refreshed the site every second before sales opening. Four seconds after the sales had started, the queue was over 2.500 buyers long, and 10 seconds later the queue was full. The actual queue time to pay the tickets took about 30 minutes. Every fan in the queue could buy up to five tickets.

We are waiting for a reply from Blizzard on the exact time and amount of tickets sold. Fans will have one last chance to get their hands on a BlizzCon ticket on 30 May when the second batch will be sold.

One of the very popular features of previous BlizzCons has been the World of WarCraft in-game pets given out in goodie bags, which will be given out to a lot more fans this year.
