Red Steel 2 To Be Wii MotionPlus Only

Upcoming sword-swinging action game Red Steel 2 is set to only function with the Wii MotionPlus.

The news comes courtesy of Nintendo Dpad. According to Jason Vandenburghe, the creative director on Red Steel 2, it's a scary prospect.

"It's a huge risk. We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be," says Vandenburghe. "We assume high. We would like it to be high. I would love to say to you that it'll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn't there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn't there without it."

Considering that the MotionPlus is set to be bundled with Wii Sports Resort, as well as separate bundles with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis, we suspect that it's going to do fairly well, particularly considering how well certain other peripherals tend to sell with the Wii.

The MotionPlus is due out in June.
