Nintendo responded to criticism that Chinatown Wars has sold poorly by pointing out the strong lifetime sales of other major titles.
Speaking to MTV Multiplayer Blog, Nintendo's VP of licensing Steve Singer said "Chinatown Wars is performing in line with AAA titles that have come to our platform like Spore, or Lego Star Wars. Those games went on to have very different life-to-date sale numbers."
Another Nintendo rep apparently pointed out that Call of Duty 4 sold 36,000 copies in its first month, but went on to sell over 500,000 copies.
DS games, Singer stated, have "non-traditional sales curves."
We liked it, anyway, and heartily recommend it to anyone interested in the DS.
