Capcom have announced that the Versus mode for Resident Evil 5 will go live tomorrow, on Tuesday 7 April 2009.
The Versus mode created a bit of controversy when it was announced, as the competitive multiplayer mode was not, in fact, going to be free, as a lot of people expected.
The DLC will cost 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, or £3.99 GBP/€4.99 EUR on the PlayStation Network. For your cash, you'll get competitive game modes for four players, in either 1v1 or 2v2 configurations.
One of the two new modes, Slayer's Rule, tasks players with competing to get the highest score by killing Majinis. The other mode, Survivor's Rule, wants players to kill each other. From the looks of it, you'll be able to use the characters from the Mercenaries game mode in these multiplayer matches.
Whether or not you think the price is an outrage, it's going to be interesting to see how traditional competitive multiplayer works with Resi 5's control scheme.
We quite enjoyed Resi 5 when we looked at it earlier this year, although the single player AI and adherence to Resi 4's formula let it down a bit.
