The executive producer of the hit franchise 'Stargate', has spoken out on the state of the unfinished MMO, Stargate Worlds.
In a brief quote from Stargate fansite, GateWorld, Brad Wright expressed his views on the game's current situation. In a world where almost every hit film has a computer game spin-off, why hasn't an IP as successful and popular as Stargate got a decent game out there yet, what's going on with SGW, will we ever see it finished?
“We don’t know,” he said with brutal honesty. “It’s a shame. If it doesn’t happen — and, let’s be honest, it should be happening now if it was happening. It’s a shame. It’s a terrible shame."
Despite things looking worse than ever for SGW, the official website is remaining silent on the issue and carrying on as normal with periodic updates and screenshots from the game which they say is "still in development".
The core of the problem is funding; SGW's developer, Cheyenne Mountain, has reportedly been unable to pay its employees since before Christmas, although the website days-since-cheyenne-mountain-employees-have-been-paid.com, which simply displayed a counter, has been taken offline in the last couple of weeks; it was last known to be showing 125 days.
Cheyenne Mountain hit the headlines recently when it emerged that it was being sued for an unpaid account by data centre, IO Capital Princess LLC.
