Sony PS3 2.70 Firmware Update Unlikely

Rumours circulating the t'interweb suggest Sony will be releasing a PS3 firmware update, version 2.70.

The news comes from a blog post from TheGamingOwl, claiming a leak from Sony Ireland confirmed the latest update will come this Thursday.

Now we all know that's a day after April Fool's day, and we know that there aren't any offices in Ireland from which Sony could (or indeed would) confirm or deny that, so we asked our guys here in the UK.

After the standard no comment, we asked them to confirm whether there will be an update on Thursday.

"We haven't announced new firmware therefore this is speculation and we don't comment on speculation."

It seems unlikely we can expect new firmware on Thursday, so this firmware story is nothing but a rumour as far as Sony is concerned.
