While Blizzard's StarCraft II beta invites has been confirmed a hoax, the BlizzCon.com/Beta signup page which didn't accept signups last week is now working.
The BlizzCon 2008 beta signup page was made unavailable shortly after BlizzCon 2008 when the page was re-written to stop fans with Wrath of the Lich King beta keys entering the old, defunct codes. In the short time between BlizzCon 2008 and the re-writing of the page, it was possible to register the beta keys via e-mail.
A week ago the page was re-vamped with a new description that removed mentions of the World of Warcraft expansion. Blizzard also fixed the faulty signup form with multiple sources confirming it to be up and running, despite Blizzard's RTS community manager, Kevin Yu, telling fans that there is currently no way to sign up BlizzCon keys.
However, Yu did say the signup page will likely be moved to the Battle.net site shortly. As Blizzard is currently deleting any threads about the now working BlizzCon beta signup, the placement on Blizzard's main page is probably temporary. In the meantime there seems to be a green light for fans to register their BlizzCon beta key if they have one.
You might have to hurry though...the signup form might stop working soon again!
UPDATE:
Kevin Yu has now officially announced the signup page open.
