GTA DLC "Would Have Outsold Killzone 2" At Retail

The recently-released DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and the Damned, would apparently have outsold Killzone 2 were it sold at retail.

Kotaku noticed that, when Microsoft's product management director Aaron Greenberg spoke to Gamasutra, he commented that The Lost and the Damned was "the most successful game add-on content [Microsoft] have ever launched."

"If that content was sold at retail, it would be one of the best sellers across all platforms. It would have outsold Killzone 2."

While we don't have figures for the DLC sales, the sales figures for Killzone 2 indicate that it sold 323,000 units in February - but then, that was only on sale for a few days, while Lost and the Damned was available for two weeks during that same period.

We do find this interesting in that the GTA4 DLC did have a retail release, of a sort, with a card on sale that contained a download code for the game - although the online sales apparently beat out those retail sales six to one.
