IncGamers' StarcraftWire reports that Blizzard has launched the first parts of its new gaming platform, Battle.net, which has been nicknamed "Battle.net 2.0" by Blizzard fans.
Both the World of WarCraft sites and Battle.net had a brief downtime today for unknown reasons, and when they reappeared just moments ago, WoW redirected to Battle.net, which has a new design, and encourages players to merge their WoW accounts with one single Battle.net account.
This isn't a surprise, as the Wrath of the Lich King License Agreement already mentioned such a future event, but the fact that it comes at this time - and also mentions "future games" - shortly after the beta page was re-done, could mean Blizzard is preparing for signups in the next beta: StarCraft II!
In the meantime, you can upgrade your World of Warcraft account to a Battle.net account, and they will also merge with any Blizzard Account you might have added in the past.
The EU Battle.net site only has a few pages working, but the US site works, and you are able to log in on your EU account.
