LotRO Update Available For Download In US

Lord of the Rings OnlineThe next update for Lord of the Rings Online, Leaves of Lórien, is available for download outside of Europe.

Players may download the update before the patch goes live tomorrow, 17 March, on any computer such as one at work, then transfer the data to the computer with LotRO installed on with a memory stick or disc. However, this only works with the North America/Australia/New Zealand version of the LotRO client.

Codemasters have announced the Europe release date for Leaves of Lórien is currently 26 March, due to delays in the localisation process. Director of Community Relations, Satine, explained that the update contains much more content than had been expected, which is the main reason for the hold-up:

"This new release includes story elements that go well beyond what had been estimated when our schedules were set. Although this is positive for the game as we deliver more playable content and story it does mean that more time is required to localise and customise for European release."

Turbine felt that delaying the update worldwide would not benefit the game, and decided to go ahead with the planned date of 17 March for the rest of the world.
