Mythic's Mark Jacobs, developer of Warhammer Online, has written a "State of the Game" letter to the community on the official Warhammer site, listing the company's achievements with the game, problems they have yet to overcome and upcoming projects.
He starts off his letter by saying that the last six months have been very hectic for Mythic, but quickly goes on to say that the recent Patch 1.2 and the upcoming 1.3 will represent possibly the largest amount of new content and changes to an MMO ever over a few months, a brave claim indeed.
Before Patch 1.3 however, Mythic is releasing Patch 1.2.1 which he reveals will contain over 400 bug fixes, a Keep upgrade system, improvements to T3 content and experience, another Live Event and special attention to the Archmage, Shaman, White Lion and Marauder careers. In addition to all this, teh developers have been busy taking in feedback from player blogs, the new forums, in-game reports and their own gameplay experience to put together a list of areas in the game that need work. Jacobs says that the following topics will be the primary focus of the Warhammer developers over the next few months:
- Client/Server performance in RvR
- Bug & Polish
- Open RvR in general
- Keeps in general
- Keep Defense
- Battlefield Objectives
- Zone Capture
- Zone Capture rewards
- City Raiding for fun and profit
- Career Balancing
- Scenarios
He goes into each topic briefly to explain what exactly needs to be changed or looked at. This is follwed with news of the upcoming Tomb Kings area, which is set to be an awesome addition to Warhammer.
Jacobs made no mention of Warhammer's recent server closures, which represents a huge over-estimation of the amount of subscribers the game would attract. However, Patch 1.2.1 is due to be released next month, and the number of subscribers is said to be rising - the last known number was around 300,000.
