Street Fighter IV For PC Around Summer

Street Fighter IV will hopefully be out on the PC sometime around summer.

Christian Svensson, Capcom's vice president of business development and strategic planning, responded to a question from VideoGamer about the PC release of Street Fighter IV with an enigmatic "Let's say summer."

There were a few more interesting comments made, such as that the Mad Catz peripherals for Street Fighter IV work on PC, and that Capcom is "in talks with Mad Catz to figure out how can we actually do some bundles of pads and Street Fighter IV PC."

VideoGamer followed the story up, and Svensson explained that the reason behind the delay is more down to the time it takes to optimise the game for the PC.

Not only is Capcom working to integrate the game with an existing online service, but "we have to optimise the game for a variety of configurations, both upand down, so that it looks pretty on things that are more powerful thanthe arcade system and it runs well and at 60 frames per second onthings that are considerably less powerful, so we sell to more than thetop two per cent of the market."

The wait may not be for the exact same version as is on the consoles, though. Svensson mentioned that the PC release "could become the definitive version," and that there may be "a few extra bells and whistles on the PC version when that comes a little later this year too."

Street Fighter IV was released on 360 and PS3 on February 20th to high acclaim. There was a bit of a stir recently regarding some comments made by Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix lead designer David Sirlin, but the matter has since been clarified.
