Frogster has released information and screenshots revealing Runes of Magic's new arena system, which will be introduced into the open beta next month.
Players will be able to speak to the Arena Master in the Obsidian Bastion, capital city of The Order of Dark Glory faction, who will match them up with another player with similar stats.
"The arena will act as a tool to teach players how to control their avatars: how their character should be equipped, the skills required for PvP and how dual classes should be harmonised for their own style of play." says Frogster.
If a player is victorious in the Arena they are awarded points, but if they are beaten they have points deducted. At the end of each month the best players receive an exclusive mount. After the release of RoM on 19 March, Frogster are planning to extent the Arena system, adding items that can be purchased through arena combat.
Runes of Magic has earned a reputation for being a clone of World of Warcraft, and this latest addition will do nothing to lessen that. A very similar system exists in WoW, also rewarding the best arena players with a mount at the end of the season and having a selection of armor and weapons that can only be purchased with Arena points.
See screenshots of this new feature below, and read more about RoM's arena at the official Runes of Magic site.
