Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix's lead designer, David Sirlin, has made a few comments on Street Fighter IV that could be considered controversial.
Sirlin has made two posts on his blog over the last few days, pointing out that the hit game really isn't as accessible as Capcom claim and going into a lot of detail over why this is, while also pointing out some slightly odd design choices.
Interestingly, a few of the points raised - such as the game allowing you to see the character your opponent has chosen, if he selects first, meaning that it's best to wait for your opponent to choose first and then select a character that counters them well - could be considered basic mistakes that Capcom shouldn't have made.
We've contacted Sirlin for comment. Whether you're a hardcore fan of one-on-one fighting games or not, the posts make an interesting read, although be warned that a lot of the terminology may go over your head.
We liked Street Fighter IV, anyway. You can check out our review here.
