Atlus USA has announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, a remake of PSX game Persona: Revelations, will be coming to the PSP in North America later this year.
The game was previously announced for release in Japan, and this confirmation will doubtless excite Western users - not least because the original port from Japan was somewhat butchered.
The original Western release had a long questline cut out towards the end of the game, had character designs changed to appeal to Western audiences, and contained dialogue on par with the original Resident Evil, in terms of inappropriate hilarity.
This new release promises a completely redone localisation, in addition to gameplay enhancements and "additions new to the remake."
Persona: Revelations was originally a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but became wildly popular in its own right. There are current four main releases in the series, with Persona 4 having recently been dated for a European release.
No word on a European release, but as the PSP is region free, we imagine some of you will find a way to get your hands on a copy. Considering the support Atlus has been showing this region of late, we suspect that one will appear eventually.
