Resistance: Retribution Multiplayer Details

Sony Computer Entertainment America has let slip a few details about the multiplayer modes in Resistance: Retribution for the PSP.

The US PlayStation blog unveiled five of the modes following a media hands-on on Monday night. The confirmed modes on offer are as follows:

• Team Deathmatch: Eliminate the players on the opposing team. The team with the highest score wins.
•  Capture The Flag: Grab the opposing team’s flag and deliver it to your base to score the capture. You flag is required at your base to score.
• Containment: Capture coolant nodes to overheat and destroy the opposing team's reactor. Controlling both coolant nodes increases the overheat time
• Assimilation: The Cloven must eliminate the Maquis forces and assimilate them to their team. The last Maquis to be eliminated ends the round. The player with the highest individual score wins.
• Free For All: All players are out for themselves. Eliminate the opposition and the player with the highest score wins.

Resistance: Retribution is set between the events of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 and follows the story of British Marine James Grayson who embarks on a vendetta against the Chimera after being forced to kill his own brother. Grayson is enlisted by the European resistance, the Maquis, to take back the European continent from the Chimera.

The game will feature third-person action and will utilize Sony’s Bend Studio’s third generation PSP engine, which allows more enemies on screen and more detailed characters. It is scheduled for release in Spring 2009.
