Worldofwar.net has been checking out all the changes in World of Warcraft patch 3.1 which is currently on the test realms, and has tried out the new Dual Spec system first hand.
Players will now be able to pay a one-off fee of 1000 Gold, not a sum to be sniffed at but something that most level 80 players could earn in a few days, and enable a second talent spec to use when needed.
This new system was announced at BlizzCon last October, and players have been patiently waiting for it to be implemeted into the game. It means that healing classes such as Priests, Paladins and Druids can have a spec to heal in dungeons and raids as they do now, but they can have a second spec to deal damage for when they go solo to complete daily quests or collect materials for their professions.
When purchasing Dual Spec players receive an achievement. A second tab comes up on the talents pane that enables players to switch between their chosen specs. Seperate Glyphs can be bought for each spec and they will swap automatically when the specs are swapped. There is also a new Gear Manager that changes the armour, weapons and/or trinkets and jewellery at the click of a button built into the UI.
There are screen shots of the process on Worldofwar.net along with a video of the purchase and set up of the Dual Spec ability.
Patch 3.1 is expected to undergo a long test period and eventually make it to live servers in the spring.
