NASA Signs Up Developers For MMO

Astronaut: Moon, Mars and BeyondThere seem to be new MMOs announced every other day, but it's not very often that you hear NASA is behind one of them.

The space agency has just signed up three development companies to develop its MMO, 'Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond'. Virtual Heroes, Information In Place, and Project Whitecard are the companies that will be putting the game together.

Players will be able to solo missions as well as team up with others to complete tasks, which make use of actual NASA technology, as revealed in an interview with developers of the game.

Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond, which will be subscription based, is due to be released next year, but players should be able to try out a demo in the autumn. This is NASA's first foray into the MMO market, although they have backed games in the past such as the (not so wonderful) Space Simulator.
