WoW Expansion Delayed In China

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich KingIt's been three months since Wrath of the Lich King was released in Europe and the US, but China has yet to see the second World of Warcraft expansion.

Rumours of a rift between the WoW operators in China, The9, and Blizzard are rife. A report on tradingmarkets speculates that the problem stems from Blizzard's desire to increase the cost of the WoW license when the contract is renewed in June, and The9's reluctance to part with the extra cash. Allegedly, The9 are delaying the game in the hopes Blizzard will agree to renew the contract sooner rather than later.

It remains to be seen if Blizzard will play the waiting game and sell the licence to another operator, or renew with the9 so that Wrath of the Lich King will reach China as soon as possible.

This is a risky tactic for them to take if their contracts is up for renewel in June.
