Activision has confirmed there will be no new Bond game released in 2009.
Speaking during the publisher's Q4 2008 earnings call, Activision president and CEO Mike Griffith revealed that a decision had been made to push back the next Bond title until 2010.
"We made a strategic decision to move our next James Bond release from late 2009 to 2010 to benefit from a better launch window and avoiding having to compete with the large holiday lineup and going head-to-head with Call of Duty, both of which negatively impacted the performance of this title this holiday," he said.
"The movement will have an added benefit in staggering the completionsof our racing title and the next Bond, both in development at BizarreCreations."
Griffith went on to say that the move will give the Project Gotham developer more time to polish both the un-named racer and the Bond title. Griffith believes that the rush by Treyarch to complete both Call of Duty: World at War and The Quantum of Solace at the end of last year, negatively affected the latter's performance.
