Mythic and EA shed more staff working on their MMORPG Warhammer Online.
News hit earlier today that Mythic are to lose more staff working on Warhammer Online. The jobs appear to have been across the board and include members of the game design team. It's been reported that between 60 and 130 staff have lost their jobs.
This latest round of Mythic job losses comes the day after EA's financial conference call which reported losses of $641m USD in Q4 last year.
Despite this evening's news, Mythic's Mark Jacobs has come out fighting stating:
"We are resizing the team to move from a pre-launch to a post-launch size, we remain fully committed to creating and delivering the best WAR experience".
"Although we now have fewer developers on the game than we did leading up to the launch, WAR still has a larger dev team today than we ever had for Dark Age of Camelot. At Mythic, we’re committed to maintaining the trust of WAR players – we’re going to deliver the content and service that keeps you playing."
With a subscriber base of around 300,000, the numbers may be a little disappointing for EA. Warhammer Online is the EA MMO taking on Activision Blizzard, and unfortunately for Mythic, they appear to have been caught up in EA's restructuring plans.
