Four New Spore Games This Year
 Andy Alderson

EA Maxis has revealed it plans to release four new Spore titles in 2009.

Spore senior producer Morgan Roarty told CVG that Maxis is already working on the first expansion pack for the core game, titled Spore: Galactic Adventures. The expansion aims to provide a "deeper variety of gameplay" in the game's outer space section and most of the new content will be user created using the new editing tools to customise planets and create adventures.

Maxis is also working on Spore: Creature Keeper for the PC, which is aimed at younger gamers. Roarty described the game as "like a mini-sims" as the player nurtures a newborn creature and manages its needs.

Development duties have also been outsourced for two new Spore titles for Nintendo platforms. Spore: Hero will see the franchise arrive on the Wii for the first time and will feature avatar-based adventure gameplay, while Spore: Hero Arena is being made for the DS.

While no dates have been confirmed, all four titles are expected to be released this year with the PC titles landing first.
