Fake DS Systems Seized

A couple in Kent have been caught selling counterfeit DS systems, the first instance of its kind in the UK.

Following media reports prior to Christmas of counterfeit DS systems being sold in the UK, 40 counterfeit DS systems have been seized in Kent. The systems were available through Ebay and investigators from Bromley Trading Standards Department and the local police swooped in to make the arrests.

Discovered in the raid were consoles packaged with potentially dangerous power units as well as game copying devices and 150 counterfeit games for the DS and Game Boy Advance systems.

The operation had been runnning for at least two years and the authorities estimate the couple may have earned up to £50,000 during December alone.

Last December buyers were warned about these counterfeit DS systems through reports on the BBC news channels so the problem had been quite widely reported.
