The US Army has announced the third iteration of its free-to-play shooter, America's Army, will be released this year.
The game is the first in the series to take advantage of the Unreal Engine 3 and promises, like its forebears, to reflect the training, technology, action and career structure of the US Army.
The game will be continually updated post-release, adding new features, missions and real-life army technology.
In America's Army the player creates a persistent online character and then embarks on a career within the US Army. They advance through the game by completing training and missions and are rewarded at milestones in their career, such as completing basic training or returning from a tour of duty.
The core of America's Army revoles around the 11B Infantry Soldier and players can choose from a variety of roles such as Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman, Designated Marksman and Grenadier.
The first Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), will be added in the summer allowing players to take on the role of a Combat Medic.
