WGA Announces Game Award Nominees

The Writers Guild of America has revealed the shortlist for its second annual videogame writing award.

The nominees for the award range from AAA titles developed by hundreds of staffers to a downloadable game made by a one-person company and a few part time contractors.

The big titles up for the award are Fallout 3 (Ubisoft), Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Tomb Raider: Underworld and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The underdog for the award is Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! (Mousechief) a download only title featuring a series of "naughty" minigames and RPG elements.

The developer had this to say about the nomination:

"Mousechief Co. humbly thanks the WGA for their nomination and the fresh hope they offer for all indie game developers striving to realize their dreams."

Of the nominated titles, we at IncGamers were most impressed by the narrative on offer in The Force Unleashed which weaves a morally ambiguous tale and slots straight into the Star Wars canon.

The WGA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 7 February.
