Spore DRM Resolved

EA has finally released a tool which will allow Spore players to free up authorisation “slots” to install the game on other machines.

The game was slammed for its DRM implementaion when released, committing players to one machine and sometimes even one PC configuration.

Concerns were raised on forums after EA confirmed only one user account would be valid per copy of the game, contradicting reports on the 52 page Spore manual on the official site.

The de-authorisation tool, which has now been released for PC users only (Mac users are still waiting), will allow you to remove the license from one machine effectively freeing up a “machine slot” to install the game on another machine.

If you are installing on a machine and your account limits have not been reached, the game will authorise automatically, using one of the five available slots.

You can find out more about this and download the tool from the official Spore site, right here.
