Despite the poor economic climate Sega believes with IPs such as House of the Dead: Overkill, Sonic and the Black Knight, and the Conduit they are in for a good 2009.
At a Fast Forward event at Luton Hoo hotel, Sega Europe’s Alan Pritchard told MCV “Our ambitions are to continue to be a profitable publisher, and we’d like to maintain our current market share and publisher ranking.”
UK sales director John Clark also noted that they are performing well on Nintendo consoles and plan to maintain this momentum with original titles, familiar franchises, and casual software.
Sega believes without the PS2 install base there are 20 million consoles out there. Pritchard added there’s “still a lot of gamers out there who want and need to buy software. There’s still a big market out there, and we’ve got to remain optimistic.”
