Microsoft Keynote Influences Rampant Speculation
 Jerry Friestad

While it’s long been rumored that Microsoft would introduce a portable gaming device, recent news is making a strong case for the theory.

The rumors began when Microsoft introduced Origami, an Ultra-Mobile PC project that gamers misconstrued as an attempt to compete with the Nintendo DS and the PSP.

Recently however, portable videogamer reports that Microsoft has contracted Nvidia to create 3D acceleration chips for a new Microsoft handheld device. While still speculative, it appears that Microsoft might introduce either a Zune phone, or a Zune gaming device.

We’ll all have to wait for Microsoft’s keynote at CES in January to get the official word.
