MMO Publisher NCsoft has parted from the ESA stating “the timing is just not right.”
It’s been nearly a month since the announcement of Tabula Rasa’s eminent closure, and the departure of Ultima series designer Richard Garriott. It was rumored the company left to avoid the ESA's fee but PR representative, David Swofford, assures this is not the case.
The company told Gamerpolitics “There have been many changes in the gaming industry over the past couple of years and, like other developers and publishers, we have decided to wait to see how related industry events and organizations further develop before rejoining.”
NCsoft said they plan to rejoin sometime in the future, and will “assess that on a yearly basis.”
