Infogrames president, Phil Harrison, announced at a press even that Atari plans to revisit IPs such as Baldur’s Gate, Dungeons and Dragons, Neverwinter Nights, and Test Drive Unlimited.
Harrison also noted “You will hear more from these but not today, because we’re focused on 2009,” according to Eurogamer.
It’s been 7 years since Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, and whilerumors have circulated the web of a third iteration nothing has come tofruition.
While Neverwinter Nights has been busy with Bioware’s re-imagination of the series in 2002, then passing the torch off to Obsidian to do the sequel.
Phil Harrison did not describe in detail what the nature of revisiting these franchises would be, whether Atari would be continuing the new Neverwinter Nights series or revisit the 1991 AOL game.
With Atari focused on 2009 it’d be a safe bet not to expect any official announcements on these franchises for at least a year.
