 Andy Alderson

Star Wars: The Old Republic developer, Bioware, has discussed the roles of ILM and George Lucas in the upcoming MMO.

Speaking to IncGamers, Bioware's James Ohlen confirmed that, despite its work on The Force Unleashed, special effects heavyweight Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) was not involved in SW: TOR.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic is being developed almost exclusively out of the BioWare Austin Studio", said Ohlen.

"Our partners at LucasArts are involved and have input on every stage of the process, but there are no current plans to make use of ILM."

Ohlen also confirmed that George Lucas did have some involvement in the SW: TOR's development process.

"George Lucas has seen the game and has provided some high level feedback", said Ohlen.

He also revealed that more the developer currently has more than 100 people working on the game full time at its Austin studio as well as external contractors and "several people at LucasArts."
