The release of Microsoft's New Xbox Experience has allowed gamers to mount game data on their hard drive for better load times, Halo 3 being the exception.
Bungie concedes to these issues and states "after being installed to the HDD for Halo 3 and their tests indicate that in some cases, the load times are significantly longer," on a post from Bungie.net.
Halo 3 was originally designed to copy data from the game disc to the utility partition on the HDD. After installing the game onto the hard drive it still attempts to copy the data from the hard drive to the hard drive making the loading process painfully slow from our tests.
It seems a patch would be an easy way to fix the issue.
"While anything is possible, it would be a significant undertaking to try and retroactively patch/update Halo 3 to be optimised to take advantage of the HDD install features of NXE."
While the two advantages of loading from the hard drive are faster load times and a much quieter console, gamers may want to avoid installing Halo 3 unless they really cannot stand the volume emitted from the 360's disc drive.
