It’s been reported Guitar Hero III did better in its first week of sales than the World Tour version.
In it’s first week of sales, Guitar Hero World Tour has generated $67 million USD and sold around 534,000 units. In 2007 Guitar Hero III sold 1.39 million copies and generated $115 million USD reports Gamasutra.

Some might even blame the pricing, but one thing is for sure, people aren’t that impressed with music-rhythm games anymore. And that may be because of content, or because the genre hasn’t moved much since it first appeared on the market.
Could this be the start of the decline for a short-lived genre? We’ll find out at the end of the fiscal year.
