Everton Use Football Manager 2009

Everton FC are using SEGA’s newest football game, Football Manager 2009, to scout for talent.

In a first, Everton FC has signed an exclusive deal with Sports Interactive, developers of the game, to give Everton manager, David Moyes, access to its database.

With no restrictions, Moyes will be able to scan more than 50 countries worldwide and 20,000 active teams in order to scout for talent.

This game was renowned for its unrivaled database and helped make it one of the best football management games around.  With correct predictions of current football stars (spotted Wayne Rooney at 15), Moyes is hoping some of its talent spotting will help Everton find rising stars.

Paul and Oliver Collyer, the creators of the game, have been approached previously by clubs wanting to sign the game, but have declined.

Collyer (Paul) said “The game’s database is a valuable resource with the most extensive scouting network in football so Everton FC is making a top signing. I am personally delighted with today’s announcement as I’m a Toffees fan. Standing on the pitch with my signing on shirt is as close to my boyhood dream of playing at Goodison Park as I will ever get.”
