Pre-Owned Wii Speak Problems

Gamers who purchase pre-owned Wii Speak peripherals may not be able to use the Wii Speak Channel according to recent reports.

Wii Speak is a voice chat peripheral which will come bundled with Animal Crossing: City Folk when it's released next month. The peripheral can also be used outside of the game as a general voice chat tool, provided you donwload the Wii Speak Channel, released in December.

However, according to MTV Multiplayer, a pamphlet accompanying the peripheral contains a 16 digit "Wii Download Ticket" which has to be entered to download the Wii Speak Channel. Unfortunately the pamphlet states the code “cannot be replaced by Nintendo or your retailer if it is lost or stolen.” Also, the code cannot be downloaded from any other source meaning if you buy a pre-owned Wii Speak pack, it's pretty unlikely that you'll receive a fresh code.
