Fresh off his Russian space expedition Richard Garriott leaves NCsoft to pursue "new interests."
Garriott's most recent project, Tabula Rasa, experienced a rough launch with disappointing sales despite boasting a unique blend of third person shooting mechanics with MMO gameplay.
In a letter he said he was happy to "finally be able to write the players and community of Tabula Rasa," going on to say that they had been "on quite a journey together. First in creating a game unlike any other on the MMO market, then growing a loyal community and finally launching the game and its players into space with Operation Immortality. It has been quite an unforgettable journey, one that I will treasure for the rest of my life."
NCsoft are also behind Guild Wars, Lineage and City of Heroes/Villains which have all faced a more difficult year than any other this year.
