It’s a day for acquisitions as Ubisoft has announced it has taken Swedish-based studio, Massive Entertainment, into its brand.
Creators of the RTS title World in Conflict, which was acclaimed and recognised as Best Strategy Game of E3 2007, will be joining the Ubisoft studios.
Massive Entertainment, formed in 1997 and employer of 120 developers, is one of the top 50 studios in the world, according to finding from the Game Developers Research in 2008.
Christine Burgess-Quemard, executive director of worldwide production studios at Ubisoft said that Ubisoft identified Massive as “creators in the industry and I know that their talent and innovation will allow them to seamlessly integrate into our worldwide network of production studios."
Snapped up from Activision Blizzard, Massive too seem happy with the acquisition. President and founder Martin Walfisz said that Massive was “fortunate to have found in Ubisoft a publisher who shares the same values and understands our mindset. I have no doubt that our future together will offer significant mutual benefit and synergy.”
We’re hoping that Ubi will get them straight on to DLC for EndWar as it has pretty much redefined the way we play this genre on the console.
Here’s to hoping.
