With Halo 3 sporting 3.8 million units in it's first week it aims to be dethroned as Gears of War 3 moves 2.1 million units over counters on the very first day.
Some analysts believe the incredible sales are partly due to it's Friday release date (as the typical release day for US games is Tuesday). Gears of War 2 sold 1,400,000 units in North America and 700,000 across other territories according to VG Chartz.
