EA Confident Star Wars Won't Harm Warhammer

With the announcement of Star Wars: The Old Republic's release there are speculations that the introduction of a new MMO will harm the revenue of already released Warhammer Online.

EA's outspoken President Frank Gibeau told gamesindustry.biz "the Warhammer customer base will overlap to a degree with Star Wars, but obviously you're bringing in millions of new customers with the Star Wars universe."

Setting aside the fact that both games cover two completely separate universes this seems logical considering Bioware, the developer of Star Wars: The Old Republic, has an expansive single player RPG pedigree.

EA/Mythic's Warhammer Online is a PvP and RvR focused game, if both games are done right EA can successfully target to two major contingents of WoW's stranglehold over the MMO space, making them Blizzards most prominent competition.
