Bungie's Next IP Not Tied To Microsoft

Bungie has confirmed its new IP, being developed in tandem with Halo 3 Recon, will not be tied to Microsoft.

The Halo developer told Gamesindustry.biz that its new title is not currently restricted to any one platform. "No, we're not [tied into a specific platform for new IP]," said Bungie's Brian Jarrard. ""We haven't gotten that far yet to be totally honest. In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. So who knows what the future will bring us."

However, Jarrard was full of praise for the Xbox 360's online community and its role in the success of Halo 3. "For us the 360 has been great because there's just been this great synergy with Bungie because all of our games have this inherent social community aspect," he said. "Everything we've ever done has this very big online component - we, together with the Xbox consoles, have continued to push that Live experience, the whole notion of a party experience forward."

More news on the mysterious new title as and when we get it. As Bungie is known to be a bit of a tease, keep an eye on its website.
