More Halo 3 Recon Details

Developer Bungie has revealed more details about the upcoming standalone Halo 3 expansion, Halo 3 Recon.

Gamespot reports that Bungie's Luke Smith and Brian Jarrard spoke to press at the Tokyo Game Show explaining that the standalone expansion is "our answer back to our fans".

"This is a game we felt like we needed to do", said Jarrard. "Our fans want more Halo 3 content and they want to do more in the Halo universe, and this is really our way to continue to support the Halo 3 fan base and given them something a little bit different than what they were expecting."

The pair went onto reval how the events in Recon take place at the end of Halo 2's storyline, when "the Convenant blasts out of the city". They also hinted that the majority of the game would take place in city-like environments and that the game demands a different approach to combat than Halo 3.

Multiplayer content will also be included in the expansion and it will include new maps and the next Spring's Mythic Map Pack.

The game is due for release in Autumn 2009.
