The announcement of the new DSi has brought the pendulum of attention back to Nintendo for the time being, but they still can't seem to escape the questions on the lack of real games on the Wii Console.
Most recently in an interview on Venturebeat Reggie was asked if more hardcore games are in the works to quench the thirst of enthusiast gamers and his response was:
“The gaming enthusiast that buys a tremendous amount of games is truly insatiable. As an example, in March, we launched “Super Smash Bros. Brawl.” In April, we launched “Mario Kart.” In later April, we launched “Wii Fit.” Then, in July, at E3, they say, “where are the games?” They say they want the next Mario game. “Super Mario Galaxy” isn’t even a year old yet.”
I'm not to keen on what exactly qualifies as a hardcore game, but I highly doubt the majority of Nintendo fans with Legend of Zelda posters in their rooms wearing Metriod T-shirts listening to 8bit Mega-Man remixes is also doing Yoga on his Wii Fit.
The boundaries of what qualifies as a game have been tested over the past few years but the hardcore Nintendo audience still awaits impatiently for more quality first party titles. The holiday season is starting to look pretty shallow for Nintendo fans...
