In Part 2 of our exclusive interview with Patrick Redding, narrative designer on Far Cry 2, we learn that all vehicles, as well as weapons follow a damage model.
When asked whether certain aspects of the vehicles may be shot out, such as the wheels, Redding said that all things in the game had damage models, and speaking of vehicles, there is a "complete damage model for all vehicles."
Expanding further, Redding said that this was determined by how much damage a vehicle or weapon had undergone, and this would effect the overall "reliability score" of the item.
Players will have the option to buy Haynes-type manuals which make servicing and reliability of the vehicles and weapons faster and better respectively.
When fixing these items, a single "magic wrench" animation will appear, and depending on your manuals and level of damage received, a variable time of fixing will resolve the problem.
