MTV and Harmonix have confirmed that Rock Band 2 users will not be able to download songs from Rock Band.
According to Variety, the retail version of the first game will instead be made available "indefinitely" and users can copy the songs from the game disc to their hard drive for the price of $5. It was expected that the songs included in the first game would be added to the Rock Band store and priced at the standard rates.
Rock Band 2 was released in the US for the Xbox 360 earlier this month. The PS3 version is due for US release in October and both will make it to Europe in November.
