Speaking to Gamasutra, NetDevil have confirmed that their focus on the LEGO Universe has been tested extensively for two and a half years using children and families from the start.
Ryan Seabury, the LEGO Universe lead producer said that getting the consumer testing right was one of the main priorities. There was no point in getting people that weren’t going to play the game, or commit to it to understand what it’s about.
"Just bringing people in... isn't going to be useful. That's one big thing I think a lot of people mess up on," he said.
He added that by bringing on the communities earlier than the beta stage allows for more focused feedback.
"Early focus testing, if misinterpreted, can take you in a bad direction."
"You never hear about a community being involved in an MMO besides coming in at the beta test at the end."
NetDevil, who are by no means new to creating an MMO Universe, will look to have licked the game by the time it comes out.
NetDevil will also be releasing the first Space Combat Simulation MMO later next year. Whether there is a cross over into the universes is a totally different matter.
