EA Aim For 255.000 WAR Subscribers

According to analysts, who have been talking to Edge, EA set a target subscriber base for Mythic's MMORPG Warhammer Online at 255,000.

Fighting for a share of the MMORPG market, the recently released title has gone down well with gamers so far, but there's still the free month to run before we get any real idea of how popular the MMORPG will actually be.

According to analyst Arvind Bhatia at Stern Agee, EA are looking to reach 255,000 subscribers to break even and they're expecting the subscriber base to level out at around 250,000- 300,000 which is lower than Mythic have been touting in numerous interviews on the Internet over the past fortnight. Arvind Bhatia added that sales have been ”about in line with (but not above)expectations”.

With World of Warcraft dominating the MMO space, Mythic's MMORPG will need to gain quite a momentum to take a chunk of users away from Blizzard.

Funcom's Age of Conan has recently hit rough times with the departure of theGame's Producer and Director but was thought to be a real contender to take a share of Blizzard's players prior to launch.

The next eight weeks will be an interesting time for EA and Mythic.
