Activision To "Monetize" COD Online

Activision Blizzard has stated its intention to further "monetize" the Call of Duty series.

According to Edge, Activision Publishing CEO, Mike Griffith, explained that the online side of the game could be made more profitable at an analyst day yesterday

"We ... see strong opportunities to monetize online gameplay", said Griffith. "The average Call of Duty player has spent nearly five full 24-hour days of their lives online since purchasing the game."

"Over time, we'll qualify more opportunities to increase the monetization of these activities."

Griffith also confirmed Infinity Ward will be developing Call of Duty 6 and it is scheduled for release next year.
