EA Responds To Spore DRM Confusion

EA has attempted to clear up the confusion surrounding Spore's Digital Rights Management system.

An EA spokesperson confirmed to us that the DRM limits the user to installing the game on three machines not, as some of the comments on the Amazon Spore listing suggest, three installations in total. Multiple installations of the game on the same computer are permitted and reauthentication will only be required should the user make "significant changes" to the PC's hardware, reformat the hard drive or upgrade the operating system.

We were told that EA Customer Support can supply additional activations if the user has a "warranted excuse".
