More DRM Issues For Spore
 Andy Alderson

EA has confirmed that only one user account is allowed to be created for each copy of Spore, meaning multiple users in the same household will have to share accounts.

According to the Consumerist, the policy is a side-effect of the game's Digital Rights Management (DRM) anti-piracy system. It also contradicts what is said in Spore's user manual.

"You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game", says page 52 of the manual. An EA spokesperson has confirmed the error in the Spore forums. "That section in the manual was a misprint and will be corrected in future printings of the manual", EA_violet responded to a query about multiple accounts in the EA forums. "There is one Spore registration/account per game/serial code so you are correct in that you cannot make multiple accounts at this time."

Spore's SecuRom DRM system also limits the purchaser to installing the game on three machines only, causing much outcry among the gaming community and resulting in a string of unfavourable reviews on the game's Amazon product page.
